Lutheran extended the longest winning streak in Michigan Independent this week by beating Allen Academy, 19-14. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Warriors.
Lutheran and the Wildcats played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Lutheran eventually emerging with a 19-14 victory.
University Liggett's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Nate Gaggin threw for 109 yards and Drew Jerome had 31 yards receiving. On the ground Gaggin chipped in 33 yards. Thomas Jackson helped University Liggett's passing attack out by catching three balls for 28 yards.
University Liggett's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Knights feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Gaggin has thrown for 1903 yards and 20 touchdowns this season, while Jerome has 47 catches for 751 yards. Gaggin also leads the league in rushing with 882 yards.
Entering into this week's contest against Douglass, Gaggin is short just 97 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
Parkway Christian took down Hamtramck 42-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
