The Marshall Redhawks are taking a road trip to take on the Harper Creek Beavers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marshall is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Last Tuesday, Marshall got the win against Northwest by a conclusive 9-1. Considering the Redhawks have won six games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Layne Churchill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Brooke Carden and Addison Carden did most of the damage at the plate: Brooke went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Addison went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most doubles Addison has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Kelly, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Marshall kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Harper Creek waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Spartans. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Beavers have posted since April 25th.
Marshall's record is now 9-4. As for Harper Creek, their record now sits at 19-2.
Marshall suffered a grim 12-5 defeat to Harper Creek in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Redhawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
