Even though the Orange County Fighting Hornets have not done well against the Albemarle Patriots recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Orange County narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Albemarle 41-38. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Orange County has scored all season.
It was another big night for Chloe Hebert, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Orange County's points. Laney Fayard was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Orange County pushed their record up to 7-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Albemarle, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.
Orange County will head out on the road to face off against William Monroe at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. William Monroe is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. Albemarle will be home for the holidays to greet Eastern View at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastern View comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
