Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Mathew Zuniga and Julio Resendez Lead Progreso to Victory

Progreso posted their biggest victory since December 12, 2024 on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 64-41 margin over IDEA Frontier College Prep. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 63-41 back in January.

Progreso was led to victory by Julio Resendez and Mathew Zuniga. Resendez dropped a double-double on 14 points and 20 rebounds, while Zuniga almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine assists. Those nine assists gave Zuniga a new career-high. Another player making a difference was John Hernandez, who posted ten points and five boards.

Progreso smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Progreso's win bumped their record up to 13-18. As for IDEA Frontier College Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-21.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Progreso will take on IDEA Riverview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for IDEA Frontier College Prep, they will square off against Lyford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lyford will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something IDEA Frontier College Prep surely won't give up without a fight.
