Rocky Mountain has gone 7-2 against Fossil Ridge recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Lobos will be playing in front of their home fans against the SaberCats at 4:30 p.m. Rocky Mountain is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Rocky Mountain and Douglas County, and Douglas County kept the tradition alive. The Lobos took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Huskies on Saturday.
Rocky Mountain saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ross Frank, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Fossil Ridge entered their tilt with Heritage on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 12-6 win. Considering the SaberCats have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Vedant Sharma looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Owen Morgan, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Luc Gaca-Thiele, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.
Fossil Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.
Fossil Ridge's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Rocky Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Rocky Mountain has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .486. However, it's not like Fossil Ridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .495. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rocky Mountain couldn't quite get it done against Fossil Ridge in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-4. Can the Lobos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
