The Chanute Blue Comets will head out on the road to square off against the Labette County Grizzlies at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chanute will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Last Tuesday, Chanute strolled past Fort Scott with points to spare, taking the game 54-35.
Meanwhile, Labette County pushed their score all the way to 65 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 72-65 to Parsons. Labette County has struggled against Parsons recently, as their match on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
The losing side was boosted by Hudson Baker, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 16 rebounds. That was a full 41.5% of Labette County's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Nash, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Chanute's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Labette County, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.
Chanute was able to grind out a solid victory over Labette County in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 53-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chanute since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
