Softball Recap: Decatur Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

The matchup between Decatur and Tharptown on Thursday hardly resembled the 4-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Red Raiders came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 12-8. The win was some much needed relief for the Red Raiders as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Decatur let Jazlyn Jackson and Annabelle Mathews run wild. Jackson went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Mathews went 3-for-5 with five RBI. Those five RBI gave Mathews a new career-high. Isabella Smith was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Decatur kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Decatur's victory bumped their record up to 7-25. As for Tharptown, they dropped their record down to 14-14 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Decatur does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Tharptown, they will be playing at home against Brilliant at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
