Baseball Recap: Cheraw's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Cheraw had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Andrew Jackson Volunteers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-1 last Wednesday.

Jackson Byrd was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Nick Gordon, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-5.

Cheraw pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Andrew Jackson, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Looking ahead, Cheraw will be playing at home against Darlington at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Andrew Jackson, they will head out on the road to face off against Camden at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
