No pain, no gain.
In the case of
Berwick (Pa.) softball player
Katie Starr, the pain was immense – as was the reaction nationally to her incredible effort in a softball game earlier this week.
As seen in the video below, Starr robbed a Crestwood (Mountain Top) batter of a home run but paid the price by violently colliding with the outfield fence.
Video: Softball catch of the year?Berwick sophomore goes viral after extra effort."I was shocked that it was still in my glove after that. I didn't think I had it. I looked down and it was there,"
Starr told WNEP 16 of Scranton. "It hurt, but I knew it had to make that play."
Starr's effort was featured in ESPN's SportsCenter Top 10 segment that evening.
Thanks in part to a home run later in the contest by Starr, Berwick went on to win 5-3.
