The Stonington Bears waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 53-42 win over Windham. The win was all the more spectacular given Stonington's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Windham is ranked 20th).
Windham lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Asihja Harris, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Harris hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Flores, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Stonington pushed their record up to 7-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Windham, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stonington will take on Tourtellotte at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tourtellotte is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. Windham won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Parish Hill at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th.
