It was a good run, but the Phillips Wildcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 71-62 to Kenwood. Phillips has not had much luck with Kenwood recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Phillips' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Lawrence Horton, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, and Amari Edwards who scored 18 points. Edwards has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Elijah Harris, who scored eight points.
It was another big night for Calvin Robins Jr, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds for Kenwood. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Robins Jr has scored all season. Aleks Alston was another key contributor, almost dropping a triple-double on nine points, 16 rebounds, and ten assists.
Phillips' loss dropped their record down to 18-9. As for Kenwood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.
Phillips does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Kenwood, they will take on Curie at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Curie's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 games.
