Baseball Game Preview: Dawson School Mustangs vs. SkyView Academy Hawks

The Dawson School Mustangs will face off against the SkyView Academy Hawks at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Dawson School will be strutting in after a win while SkyView Academy will be coming in after a defeat.

Dawson School will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Friday, then bounced right back against Bishop Machebeuf on Tuesday. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Buffaloes with a sharp 15-4 victory.

Darren Sebek made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Dawson School is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-5 otherwise. Sebek was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Dawson School got a massive performance out of Milo Richtel, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. Richtel is on a roll when it comes to hits, as he's now got three or more in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dawson Kusel, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Dawson School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

Meanwhile, SkyView Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Woodland Park on Wednesday and fell 6-5.

Dawson School's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for SkyView Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.

Dawson School skirted past SkyView Academy 6-5 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
