The Canarsie Chiefs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of Port Richmond by a score of 23-20. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Canarsie in their matchups with Port Richmond: they've now lost three in a row.
Canarsie bumped their record down to 2-7 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-2 Lincoln and 8-3 Monsignor Farrell (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.4% over those games). As for Port Richmond, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season.
Canarsie does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Port Richmond will head out on the road to face off against Erasmus Hall at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Erasmus Hall has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 150 points over their last four games.
