And he brought some offense, too.
Wilson, who keyed a big second-half
run with this defense, scored 24 points on 7-of-15 from the field, as Washington beat Oregon
101-80 in the Northwest Shootout in Portland's Chiles Center.
The Northwest Shootout is the annual
all-star basketball game pitting Washington vs. Oregon.
Bellevue's Alex Schrempf, son of former
Seattle SuperSonics star Detlef Schrempf, scored 18 points and was named MVP of
the event. Michael Holton Jr. of Sunset High in Portland
led Oregon
with 15 points.
The Washington girls also won, using the 20-points in 21 minutes effort of Kenzie DeBoer of Lynden Christian to win 75-65.
It was the 16th annual installment
of the game. Washington
has won five of the past seven and three straight after starting 1-8.
The Washington girls have also won three
straight. They lead their series 8-6.
Many of the key players who have
signed with major colleges or were All-Americans weren't able to play because
of a rule allowing players just two all-star games. Franklin's Peyton Siva and Bellarmine Prep's
Abdul Gaddy both played in two All-American games.
