The Winner Warriors were the 52-49 winner over the Todd County Falcons when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Winner fell just short of Todd County by a score of 44-42. Winner has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.
Winner lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aiden Barfuss, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Shawn Hammerbeck, who scored eight points along with 14 rebounds and two steals.
Winner has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season. As for Todd County, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-9.
Winner on the road again on Friday and play against Mt. Vernon/Plankinton at 7:45 p.m. on January 26th. As for Todd County, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Stanley County at 5:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Dakota (Stanley County is ranked 102nd, while Todd County is ranked 122nd).
