After flying high against Miller Career Academy on Thursday, the Roger Bacon Spartans came back down to earth. Roger Bacon fell to KIPP Tulsa University Prep 37-32. While losing is never fun, Roger Bacon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 394th in Ohio, while KIPP Tulsa University Prep is ranked 141st in Oklahoma).
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gabby Ernst, who scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Leah Fulton, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Roger Bacon's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for KIPP Tulsa University Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Roger Bacon will take on Bishop Brossart at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop Brossart has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. KIPP Tulsa University Prep will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Oklahoma F at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th.
