Baseball Recap: Pine Bluff Takes a Loss

Pine Bluff had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-18 to make it five. They came up short against the Mills University Studies Comets, falling 18-6. The Zebras were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Comets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2018.

Derion Lindsey made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those doubles marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden French, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

As for Mills University Studies, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Mills University Studies' side, Maddox Parker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Parker was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with four RBI and two runs. He has become a key player for Mills University Studies: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Aarachai Briggs was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Diego Solis, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Coming up, Pine Bluff will challenge White Hall at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Zebras will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches. As for Mills University Studies, they will square off against Malvern at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
