The Denton Broncos fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Argyle Eagles on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Eagles 46-40. While losing is never fun, Denton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 403rd, while Argyle is ranked 24th).
Denton's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ethan Sheats, who scored 13 points, and Chase Thomas who scored 12 points.
Denton has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-16 record this season. As for Argyle, they pushed their record up to 21-3 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Denton will challenge Richland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Richland is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Argyle, they will head out on the road to challenge Lake Dallas at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Dallas knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 20 matches -- so hopefully Argyle likes a good challenge.
