Volleyball Recap: Charlestown Gets the Win

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Charlestown and Switzerland County meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. The Pirates came out on top against the Pacers by a score of 2-0. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Pacers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

The 2-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Charlestown was: they took both sets by at least 15 points. The final score came out to 25-10, 25-10.

Taylor Abby paced Charlestown's offense, picking up ten kills. Abby got some help from Adi Burchel and her nine assists. Burchel was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Charlestown's victory bumped their record up to 13-17. As for Switzerland County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-20 record this season.

Charlestown wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Clarksville on the 11th. As for Switzerland County, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against New Washington on the 11th.
