South is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Mansfield Senior is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The South Bulldogs will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Mansfield Senior Tygers at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. South has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 394 points over their last six matches.
Last Tuesday, South didn't have too much trouble with Marion-Franklin on the road as they won 61-44. Given South's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while Marion-Franklin is ranked 417th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chris Stokes, who scored 19 points. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for him. Lajames Washington was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Meanwhile, Mansfield Senior beat Wooster 66-53 last Friday.
It was another big night for Kyevi Roane, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds. The game was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Dondreas Reese, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.
South's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Mansfield Senior, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
