The Western Plains Bobcats won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They were beaten by Cheylin 50-21. Western Plains has struggled against Cheylin recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Cheylin was led to victory by Logan McCarty and Pablo Bermudez. McCarty dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Bermudez scored 25 points along with six rebounds and five steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Bermudez has scored at least a third of Cheylin's points. Another player making a difference was Matthew Hendricks, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Western Plains' defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Cheylin, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.
Western Plains will head out on the road to face off against Northern Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Northern Valley will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. As for Cheylin, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Golden Plains at 4:00 p.m. Golden Plains will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 328th, while Cheylin is ranked 141st).
