Softball Recap: Safford Wins Going Away Against Rio Rico

Safford never got on the board in their matchup last Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Rio Rico on Monday. They put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 14-1 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Trynity Dominguez and Aleena Romero did most of the damage at the plate: Dominguez went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Romero scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most RBI Dominguez has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Keya Arbizo, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Safford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win got Safford back to even at 10-10. As for Rio Rico, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-14.

Safford didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-0 victory against Catalina on the 15th. As for Rio Rico, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 16-6 defeat against Cholla on the 15th.
