Burlington had won seven straight home games  dating back to last season and  Lexie Carmody did her part to make it eight on Thursday. The Red Devils walked away with  a   3-1  victory over the Melrose Red Raiders  for which the team can thank  Carmody, who  had 17  digs and one assist. She is  on a roll when it comes to  digs, as she's  now  had 17 or more in each of the last three games she's  played.
 Burlington had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-19, 25-19,  25-16.
 Melrose's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Sabine Wenzel, who  had 17  kills. The team also got some help courtesy of  Adriana Santoriello, who  had 11  digs and six  kills.
Burlington's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Melrose,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 2-2.
 We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Burlington is set to  square off against  their familiar foe Arlington  at 5:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Melrose will  challenge  rival Winchester  at 5:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
