 Hayden Sharps made a splash while hitting and pitching. He  pitched five innings while giving up just two earned  (and one unearned) runs off   three  hits. Sharps was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-3 with two  runs and one  double.
 In other batting news,  Griffin Cooley was a standout: he got on base  in three of his four plate appearances with two  runs, one  triple,  and one  stolen base. What's more,  he posted two  RBI, the most he's  had since back in April.  CJ Fidler also deserves some recognition as  he  hit his first  double of the season.
Montpelier's win was  their fourth straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 13-2. The  home  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ayersville,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 5-12.
 When Montpelier and Ayersville next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Locomotives will  face off against  Archbold and their three-game winning streak  at 5:00  p.m.  on Friday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average (Montpelier 3.4, the Blue Streaks 3.6) so any  runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Ayersville will try to stop Fairview's three-game winning streak when they meet  at 5:00  p.m.  on Friday.
