Basketball Game Preview: Western Brown Broncos vs. Goshen Warriors

The Western Brown Broncos will face off against the Goshen Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Western Brown made off with a 56-55 win over Batavia.

Western Brown found their leader in sophomore Madilyn Ruby, who almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ruby has scored all season. Another player making a difference was J Jenike, who went 6 of 13 en route to 15 points and four steals.

Western Brown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Goshen came tearing into Thursday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 55-26 blowout they got against the Falcons. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 25 points or more this season.

Goshen's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Western Brown, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.
