West Wendover hasn't had much luck against Pershing County recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The West Wendover Wolverines will challenge the Pershing County Mustangs at 6:20 p.m.

Shay Neaman put forth a good effort for the losing side as she dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Savannah Jimenez, who posted ten points.
Even though they lost, West Wendover smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pershing County). They blew past Sierra Lutheran 62-17 on Friday. The Mustangs have beaten the Falcons the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Falcons has come to flipping the script.
Pershing County's win came from a few key players West Wendover will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Aaliyah Allen, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 13 boards. She has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyra Cerni, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine assists.
Pershing County's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-6. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.7 points over those games. As for West Wendover, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: West Wendover has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 25.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Pershing County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.6 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
West Wendover came up short against Pershing County in their previous matchup back in January, falling 45-41. Can West Wendover avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
