The J.R. Tucker Tigers will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Freeman Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
On Tuesday, J.R. Tucker made easy work of Maggie Walker and carried off a 21-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with Maggie Walker: they've now won three in a row.
Kendall Shockley made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2025. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Miyah Williams was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Corinne Lewis was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three RBI and one run.
J.R. Tucker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maggie Walker only posted an OBP of .211.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Freeman made sure to put some runs up on the board against Hermitage on Tuesday. The Mavericks put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 15-1 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Mavericks' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Ryleigh Perks was a standout: she fired off two home runs, two stolen bases, and three runs while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Kayleigh Perks, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Freeman's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for J.R. Tucker, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
J.R. Tucker came up short against Freeman in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, falling 8-3. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
