The Turpin Cardinals were the 56-22 winner over the Merritt Oilers when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Turpin's rough 59-35 defeat to Merritt on Saturday might stick with them for a while. Turpin has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Bryson Parker and Carson Peters certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Parker scored 16 points, while Peters scored ten points.
Turpin has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Merritt, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Turpin and Beaver will face off at 4:30 p.m. on January 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Beaver will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings (they are ranked 451st, while Turpin is ranked 162nd). Merritt and Sayre will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Sayre is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
