The Denham Springs Yellowjackets will challenge the Live Oak Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams were dealt some close losses in their previous games and are determined not to let this one get away.
Denham Springs easily dispatched Northshore on Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Denham Springs fell just short of Holden by a score of 10-8 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Yellowjackets have suffered since April 13, 2024.

Anna Herod made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits.
Herod wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Denham Springs lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Live Oak was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-10 heartbreaker at the hands of East Ascension. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered against the Spartans since February 26, 2016.
Halle Maxwell was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Taylor MaTTingly also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Live Oak's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Denham Springs, they dropped their record down to 4-10 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Denham Springs hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Live Oak struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Denham Springs suffered a grim 19-10 defeat to Live Oak in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will Denham Springs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
