Basketball Game Preview: Legacy Academy Silverbacks vs. Monte Del Sol Charter Dragons

The Legacy Academy Silverbacks will venture away from home to square off against the Monte Del Sol Charter Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Legacy Academy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Legacy Academy is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Elida: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Legacy Academy blew Elida out of the water with a 62-25 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Silverbacks had established a 29 point advantage.

Legacy Academy's win on Saturday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bryant Scales, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 17 points. Scales is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Dallas Baca was another key player, putting up six points and ten assists.

Legacy Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Monte Del Sol Charter was beaten by Logan 77-32 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Longhorns are ranked ninth).

Legacy Academy pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Monte Del Sol Charter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-12.

Everything came up roses for Legacy Academy against Monte Del Sol Charter in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, as the squad secured an 85-50 win.
