The Hawkins Hawks will head out to take on the Big Sandy Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
On Friday, everything went Hawkins' way against Grace Community as Hawkins made off with a 9-3 win. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Kalyn Ellison spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Hawkins let Alana Gipson and Taetum Smith run wild. They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Hawkins kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are undefeated (3-0) when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, Big Sandy made sure to put some runs up on the board against Cumby on Friday. Big Sandy put the hurt on Cumby with a sharp 13-3 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Wildcats' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Journie Plunkett was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three doubles. Another player making a difference was Jorga Stewart, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
With the victory, Big Sandy broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-3. As for Hawkins, their record is now 6-7-1.
Everything went Hawkins' way against Big Sandy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Hawkins made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hawkins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
