Brandon is 8-2 against Oak Grove since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will challenge the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Brandon 3.7, Oak Grove 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Friday, Brandon earned a 7-4 victory over Pearl. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.
Jay McQueen made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Keith Forbes, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Graydon Walker, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Oak Grove waltzed into their game on Thursday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They walked away with a 10-6 win over the Cougars.
Gage Thompson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered six earned runs on 11 hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Mac McDaniel was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Kendrell Roberts was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Oak Grove pushed their record up to 17-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Brandon, their record now sits at 13-10.
Everything went Brandon's way against Oak Grove in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Brandon made off with an 11-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
