Softball Recap: St. Martin Wins Going Away Against Gautier

While St. Martin put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Gautier. St. Martin blew past Gautier 18-0. With that victory, the Yellow Jackets brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Natalie Shoemaker was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. DKennedi Jenkins also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

St. Martin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

St. Martin's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Gautier, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Martin will venture away from home to take on D'Iberville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gautier, they will head out to face off against East Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Central will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Gautier surely won't give up without a fight.
