The South Point Pointers suffered their biggest defeat since December 14, 2023 on Thursday. They were outmatched by Fairland at home and fell 74-36. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for South Point in their matchups with Fairland: they've now lost eight in a row.
Fairland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bailey Russell led the charge by scoring 23 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Russell's trending in the right direction, as she's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Bree Allen, who scored 15 points along with seven steals and five rebounds.
South Point's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Fairland, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-1.
South Point will head out on the road to take on Gallia Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Fairland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chesapeake at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
