Baseball Recap: Eagle Valley Has No Trouble Against Hinkley

Eagle Valley entered their tilt with Hinkley on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Thunder 16-1. The matchup marked the Devils' most dominant victory of the season.

Jackson Woodworth was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Woodworth was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Eagle Valley is undefeated when Woodworth posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colter Blakey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. He has become a key player for Eagle Valley: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Anthony Ehlert, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base.

Eagle Valley lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Eagle Valley's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Hinkley, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Looking ahead, Eagle Valley will head out on the road to face off against Summit at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season. As for Hinkley, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Arvada at 4:30 p.m. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.77 runs per game on average), something the Thunder will no doubt try to take advantage of.
