The St. Mary's Academy Crusaders scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. Everything went their way against Veritas Christian as St. Mary's Academy made off with a 76-51 victory. St. Mary's Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 20 points or more this season.
St. Mary's Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaac Engholm out in front who scored 15 points along with six assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Moats, who scored ten points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Abel Ney and Hunter Welch certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Ney went 7 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 2 assists, while Welch scored eight points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ney has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Vaughn Heck, who scored ten points.
St. Mary's Academy's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-12. As for Veritas Christian, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-13.
St. Mary's Academy will take on Kauffman at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully St. Mary's Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday. As for Veritas Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Northeast Kansas Nighthawks HomeSchool at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
