Treutlen has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Hawkinsville Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Treutlen knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 15 matchups -- so hopefully Hawkinsville likes a good challenge.
Treutlen posted their biggest victory since December 12, 2023 on Saturday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 79-39 win over Montgomery County. Given Treutlen's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 191st, while Montgomery County is ranked 444th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Hawkinsville unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to Telfair County 70-64. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Nelson Singletary, who scored 17 points along with six steals and five assists. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Darius Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 19 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Hawkinsville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Treutlen's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. As for Hawkinsville, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
Treutlen was able to grind out a solid win over Hawkinsville in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, winning 64-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Treutlen since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
