The Mercer Mustangs will square off against the Reynolds Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mercer has ten straight wins, Reynolds has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Mercer's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Sharpsville 6-0. That six-run margin sets a new team best for the Mustangs this season.
Angelina Eakman made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Farren Baldwin was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Madison Hackett, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Mercer hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sharpsville struck out 11 times.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Reynolds' offense. They lost 11-0 to Cranberry Area on Wednesday.
Mercer's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Reynolds, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
Everything went Mercer's way against Reynolds when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Mercer made off with a 15-0 win. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
