The Spanish Springs Cougars scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Reed 71-40 at home. Spanish Springs has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 25 points or more this season.
Layni Noonkester continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Vance, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Reed lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Eliana Atlookan, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds. Grace Maxwell was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Spanish Springs and bumps their season record up to 10-8. As for Reed, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-10.
Spanish Springs will head out on the road to square off against Damonte Ranch at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Damonte Ranch focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday. As for Reed, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop Manogue at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop Manogue will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.
