Basketball Recap: Orangeburg Prep's Run of Four Straight Victories Now Over

It was a good run, but Orangeburg Prep unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 67-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Calhoun Academy Cavaliers. The Indians were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cavaliers earlier this season, when they won 71-47.

Despite the loss, Orangeburg Prep still got an impressive performance from Avery Ravenell, who posted 32 points and six steals. Ravenell has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tilden Riley, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 19 rebounds.

Leading Calhoun Academy to victory were Crews Felder and Nick Lindsay. Felder went 7 for 9 en route to 27 points, while Lindsay dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 boards. Lindsay is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. Chase Strickland was another key player, putting up eight points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.

Orangeburg Prep's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 13-4. As for Calhoun Academy, their win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orangeburg Prep will challenge Andrew Jackson Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Orangeburg Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 matches -- so hopefully Andrew Jackson Academy likes a good challenge. As for Calhoun Academy, they will square off against St. John's Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. St. John's Christian Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
