Softball Recap: Reading Wins Going Away Against Mariemont

Reading won the last time they faced Mariemont and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Blue Devils put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 14-4 victory. Considering the Blue Devils have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Reading got a great performance from Kotah Brisbin as she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.

At the plate, Hailey Mowell was a standout: she got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. MJ Graham was another key player, going 2-for-3 with five RBI and one double.

Reading always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

Reading's record now sits at 11-4. As for Mariemont, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Reading will challenge Madeira at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mariemont, they will square off against Lockland at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
