The Union Yellowjackets will square off against the Newton County Academy Generals at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Union has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight losses, while Newton County Academy will come in with three straight victories.
On Friday, Union came up short against Southeast Lauderdale and fell 10-6.

Jacob Freeman was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Union: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 8-9-1 otherwise. Kooper Fultz was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Newton County Academy). They were the clear victors by a 17-3 margin over Kemper Academy on Friday. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Carson McMillan tossed a big game, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.
At the plate, Cooper Savell was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Burt, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Newton County Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Union's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10-1. As for Newton County Academy, their win bumped their record up to 10-12.
Newton County Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Union has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. It's a different story for Newton County Academy, though, as they've only averaged .362. Will they be able to contain Union's hitters?
Union skirted past Newton County Academy 9-8 when the teams last played two weeks ago. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Generals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
