Baseball Recap: Hannibal Takes a Loss

Hannibal came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 13-4 to the Kirksville Tigers. The Pirates' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Hannibal saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Waylon Anders, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The Pirates are 2-1 when Anders posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Patrick Arthaud was another, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Hannibal now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Kirksville, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-5.

Looking ahead, Hannibal will head out on the road to take on Quincy Notre Dame at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Raiders will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Pirates surely won't give up without a fight. As for Kirksville, they will be playing at home against Moberly at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
