There's no place like home for the Beaufort Eagles, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They managed a 48-42 victory over Battery Creek on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Beaufort also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Beaufort's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Naiim Pope, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Blackmon, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Battery Creek lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jayvorie Cole, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alizjah Mathis, who scored 12 points.
Beaufort pushed their record up to 7-7 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Battery Creek, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Beaufort will face off against North Charleston at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (North Charleston is ranked 111th, while Beaufort is ranked 114th). As for Battery Creek, they will head out on the road to face off against Philip Simmons at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th.
