Manchester Valley has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Liberty Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Manchester Valley fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Winters Mill on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Falcons 58-52.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Carter Strohman, who scored 16 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brendan Luddy, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Liberty pushed their score all the way to 57 last Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 61-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Urbana. Liberty has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Manchester Valley's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4. As for Liberty, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-5.
Manchester Valley barely slipped by Liberty in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 65-64. The rematch might be a little tougher for Manchester Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
