It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Centennial Spartans can now relate to. They fell just short of Red Oak by a score of 35-32. While losing is never fun, Centennial can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while Red Oak is ranked 48th).
Chris Martinez jr was the offensive standout of the match as he threw for 287 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 14.4 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown. Taz Williams jr also helped out as he racked up 144 receiving yards.
Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Red Oak, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Centennial does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Red Oak will take on Amarillo at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
