Cascade Christian is 9-0 against Vashon Island since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Cascade Christian Cougars will be playing at home against the Vashon Island Pirates at 7:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Cascade Christian's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Vashon Island has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Last Saturday, Cascade Christian got the win against Life Christian Academy by a conclusive 36-13. The result was nothing new for Cascade Christian, who have now won five matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
Jack Tangen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 135 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Byson Vasquez, who gained 92 total yards and a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Life Christian Academy to a paltry 177 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Cascade Christian's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out eight times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Torin Carpenter and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 35 points the game before, Vashon Island were a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were outmatched by Granite Falls at home and fell 52-7.
Cascade Christian has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in six of their first seven games, giving them a 6-1 record. Vashon Island has not been sharp this season, as they've lost five of their first six games, which leaves them at a 1-5 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Cascade Christian against Vashon Island in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 71-0 victory. Does Cascade Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Vashon Island turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
