Softball Recap: Beaver Takes Down Ranked White Pine

Beaver is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of White Pine. Everything went the Beaver Beavers' way against the White Pine Bobcats as the Beaver Beavers made off with a 15-4 victory. Considering the Beavers have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Braylee Carter tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Danzee Bradshaw was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Tylee Marshall, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Beaver was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win was the fifth in a row for Beaver, bringing their record for this year to 7-3. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.2 hits in those games compared to only 4.6 in the others. As for White Pine, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Coming up, Beaver will face off against Northridge at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday. Beaver knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Northridge likes a good challenge. As for White Pine, they will square off against Viewmont at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. White Pine has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
