Softball Game Preview: Clinton Yellowjackets vs. Robinson Senators

Clinton has gone a perfect 5-0 against Robinson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets will face off against the Senators at 4:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

While Clinton's win against Russellville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Yellowjackets narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Cyclones 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Yellowjackets have posted since March 30, 2024.

Meanwhile, Robinson hadn't done well against Stuttgart recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Senators sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 victory over the Ricebirds.

Ashley Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off 11 hits. Miller was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mady Hokams, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Lexi Rowe, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

The win made it two in a row for Clinton and bumps their season record up to 6-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Robinson, their record now sits at 11-5.

Clinton took their win against Robinson in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellowjackets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
