Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Calvary Christian turned things around against True Gospel Christian on Monday. They put the hurt on the Grizzly with a sharp 26-6 victory.
Celia Scott made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Scott was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and five RBI. Those triples were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Kayleigh Tackett was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and five runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Scout Holt was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and two RBI.
Calvary Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .780. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Oak Level Baptist Academy came tearing into Friday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Cougar.
Like Calvary Christian, Oak Level Baptist Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Haley Inman. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 19 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Inman has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one double.
In other batting news, Oak Level Baptist Academy got a massive performance out of Angel Walker, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave Walker a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Carpenter, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
Oak Level Baptist Academy pushed their record up to 12-2-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Calvary Christian, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
